Jewelry Care & Material Notes
Important Notes
Except for solid gold and sterling silver, all other jewelry will tarnish over time. Jewelry has a lifespan, and how long it retains its color depends on your daily wearing and care habits.
When Wearing Jewelry
Avoid Contact with Liquids
Please remove jewelry when it rains, during sports, hot springs, swimming, or bathing. It is also recommended to remove jewelry when washing hands, or dry it quickly afterward to keep it dry. If exposed to liquid accidentally, wipe the surface immediately with a soft dry cloth.
Avoid Prolonged Contact with Sweat
Sweat has a high pH level and can corrode metals and accelerate oxidation. Try not to wear jewelry when sweating heavily. If it does come into contact with sweat, remove and dry it promptly.
Avoid Direct Contact with Chemicals
Such as perfume, body wash, alcohol, and other chemical solvents. Remove jewelry before applying perfume or using alcohol disinfectant.
After Wearing Jewelry
Store Only When Completely Dry
Gently wipe clean with a soft dry cloth after wearing, and make sure the jewelry is fully dry before storage.
Keep in Sealed Storage Bags
Exposure to air speeds up oxidation. When not in use, place jewelry in the storage pouch provided to seal out air and prevent oxidation, then store in a jewelry box.
Jewelry Materials & Care Guide
1. What is 925 Sterling Silver?
925 Sterling Silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy. It is the internationally recognized standard for sterling silver.
2. Does Sterling Silver Tarnish?
Sterling silver reacts with sulfur dioxide in the air to form silver sulfide, causing the surface to darken. This tarnish can be removed with proper silver care methods.
Tarnishing levels vary depending on individual body chemistry and sweat pH.
Sterling silver jewelry is available in two finishes:
- Plated finish: Provides a bright luster, different color tone, and better resistance to tarnishing.
- Unplated raw silver: Shows the natural color of silver and develops unique patina over time, with a softer, warmer luster.
3. How to Care for 925 Sterling Silver
- After daily wear, wipe clean with a soft cloth and store in a sealed bag.
- Light tarnish can be polished with a silver polishing cloth to restore shine before storage.
- For heavy tarnish, use silver polish or silver cleaner, then rinse with water, dry thoroughly, and store in a sealed bag.
- Silver polishing cloths contain cleaning agents. Do not wash and reuse them; replace once heavily soiled.
- If the shine is restored to about 80% with a polishing cloth, avoid using silver polish or cleaner, as these are slightly corrosive and overuse may cause yellowing.
4. Care & Storage for Alloy Jewelry
- Alloy jewelry will gradually tarnish and oxidize when exposed to air moisture and sweat over time. This is normal and varies based on wear and care.
- Avoid direct contact with chemical products such as sunscreen, perfume, hairspray, and detergents. Remove jewelry before using these products.
- Keep away from hot springs, pool water, sweat, and high-humidity environments. Remove or dry immediately if exposed.
- Do not store multiple pieces loosely together to prevent scratches and oxidation. Store individually in the floating cases provided.
- Do not use silver polishing cloth on alloy jewelry, as it may accelerate fading.
5. Stainless Steel Jewelry
- Stainless steel is durable, tarnish-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic.
- Store individually to avoid scratches from contact with other pieces.
- Simply wipe with a soft cotton cloth to maintain shine.
- Clean with warm water and mild detergent using a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly.
- Keep dry and avoid chemicals (perfume, hair products, special shampoos, etc.) to slow plating fading. Choose natural steel finishes if concerned about tarnishing.
6. Pearls
- The natural pearls on our website are freshwater pearls. As natural creations, they may have minor blemishes such as small pits, slight wrinkles, or growth lines, similar to natural birthmarks.
- Chemicals and acids can damage the pearl surface. Avoid contact with fruit juice, vinegar, etc. Apply makeup, hairspray, and perfume before wearing pearls to protect their luster.
- Do not use silver polishing cloth on pearls — the chemicals will damage the pearl surface.
